CUSTOM MIXED-MEDIA PAINTING
A one-of-a-kind artwork created from your idea, photograph, or inspiration.
Would you like a painting created especially for you, but don't have a specific style or technique in mind?
I create custom mixed-media artworks combining hand-carved linoleum, paint, texture, and other materials to create unique pieces with depth, character, and a handmade feel.
I'm open to your ideas - whether you have a photograph you'd like transformed, a specific subject in mind, or simply an idea you'd like to explore together.
Let's create something unique.
HOW IT WORKS
1. SHARE YOUR IDEA
Send me your photograph, inspiration, sketch, or simply describe what you have in mind.
You don't need to have everything figured out. I'm happy to work with you to develop the idea.
2. WE DISCUSS THE ARTWORK
I'll look at your idea and recommend the best approach — a mixed-media linocut, a textured painting, or a combination of techniques.
We'll also discuss the size, composition, and overall feel of the artwork.
3. YOU APPROVE THE QUOTE
Once we have agreed on the concept, size, and materials, I'll provide you with a final quote.
A 20% deposit is required before I begin working on your commission.
4. I CREATE YOUR ARTWORK
I begin creating your one-of-a-kind mixed-media artwork by hand.
Depending on the project, this may include carving linoleum, printing, painting, building texture, and combining different materials and techniques.
5. YOUR ARTWORK IS READY
Once your artwork is completed, the remaining balance, plus shipping and applicable taxes, is due.
Your finished original artwork will then be carefully prepared for delivery.
PRICING
Starting at $6 CAD per square inch
The price is based primarily on the size of the artwork, but the final price also depends on the complexity, materials, and techniques involved.
For example:
8 × 10 in artwork = 80 sq. in. × $6 = $480 CAD
12 × 16 in artwork = 192 sq. in. × $6 = $1,152 CAD
More complex commissions requiring extensive carving, layering, or specialized materials may be quoted above the starting rate.
Your final quote will be confirmed after I review your idea and we discuss the size and approach.
A 20% deposit is required to begin your commission. The remaining balance is due when the artwork is completed.
Shipping, applicable taxes, and any customs duties or tariffs are additional and are calculated based on the destination.
A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Every custom artwork is handmade and therefore unique.
If you would like a linoleum carving incorporated into your painting, please keep in mind that the image needs to be suitable for hand carving. Simple, bold shapes and clear forms generally work best.
If you're not sure whether your idea will work, don't worry — send it to me anyway. I'm open to exploring different ideas and finding the best way to bring your vision to life.
COPYRIGHT & PERSONAL USE
The original artwork belongs to the customer once the commission has been completed.
Purchasing the original artwork does not transfer copyright or commercial reproduction rights.
You are welcome to enjoy your artwork for personal use.
Commercial use—including reproducing the artwork, creating merchandise, licensing the image, publishing it, or using it for commercial advertising or promotional purposes—requires my prior written permission and may involve an additional licensing fee.
If your commission is based on a photograph, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights or permission to use the photograph.
PORTFOLIO & PROMOTION
I retain the right to photograph and display completed commissions in my portfolio, on my website, and on social media for artistic, promotional, and educational purposes.
If you would like your commission to remain private, please let me know before I begin the artwork. An additional privacy fee may apply.
